Heat Pumps in Bicester
Is a Heat Pump Right for Your Home?
You’ve probably seen the articles. You might have had a leaflet through the door. The government is offering £7,500 towards a heat pump, and that’s real. But knowing whether one is actually right for your house, and finding someone local who’ll give you an honest answer instead of a sales pitch - that’s the harder part.
That’s what we’re here for.
Thinking About a Heat Pump?
What We Do
You've read the articles. You've seen the grant. Maybe you've had a quote. And you still don't know if a heat pump is right for your house.
Suitability isn't a desktop answer. It depends on your insulation, your radiators, your outside space, and how your home actually uses heat. You can't work that out from a brochure.
Meanwhile, your boiler is getting on. You know another winter like the last one isn't an option. You'd rather make one good decision now than pay twice later. We survey every property before we quote. Most homes we see in Bicester and the surrounding villages are suitable. Some aren't. Either way, you'll get a straight answer.

We install air source heat pumps for homeowners across Bicester and North Oxfordshire. We’re MCS-Accredited Installs via ALTO Umbrella Scheme, which means your installation qualifies for the full £7,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant.
Here’s what’s included:
Free home survey - We visit your property, assess insulation levels, available outdoor space, and your current heating setup. We measure heat loss properly, not guess it from a brochure.
Honest recommendation - If a heat pump is right for your home, we’ll explain exactly what’s involved, what it will cost after the grant, and how your heating bills will change. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll tell you that too.
Full installation - We supply and install the system, connect it to your existing pipework where possible, and commission it to manufacturer specifications.
Grant application handled - We apply for your £7,500 BUS voucher through Ofgem. The grant is deducted from your invoice before you pay. No paperwork for you.
MCS documentation and certification - You get the full MCS certificate, which you’ll need for the grant and for your home’s EPC rating.
Aftercare - Annual servicing to keep your system running efficiently and your warranty valid.

How It Works
Our Step-by-Step Process
01
We Survey Your Home
We visit, measure up, and check whether your property is suitable. This is free and there’s no obligation. We’ll give you a written recommendation on the day or within 48 hours.
02
Fixed Quote, Grant Deducted
If a heat pump is right for you, we provide a fixed written quote with the £7,500 BUS grant already deducted. What we quote is what you pay. No surprises on the invoice.
03
Installed, Certified, Done
We install the system, commission it, handle the MCS paperwork and Ofgem voucher, and make sure everything is working before we leave. You get our number if you ever need us again.
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
The Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) is a UK government grant. It gives homeowners in England and Wales up to £7,500 towards a heat pump installation. You don’t apply yourself - your MCS certified installer applies on your behalf, and the amount is deducted from your quote.
How Much Is the Grant?
Air source heat pump
£7,500
Ground source heat pump
£7,500
The grant is applied before you pay. We deduct it from your quote, so the price you see is the price you pay.
Typical Installation
£10,000
Grant Applied
-£7,500
You Pay
£2,500
Am I Eligible?
You qualify if you:
✔ Own the property (including private landlords and self-builds)
✔ Property is in England or Wales
✔ Valid EPC issued within the last 10 years
✔ Replacing gas, oil or LPG heating
✔ MCS-Accredited Installs via ALTO Umbrella Scheme(we are)
You are not eligible if your property is
✖ Standard new build from a commercial developer
✖ Social housing
✖ Keeping a gas boiler alongside a hybrid system
Do I Have to Pay the £7,500 Upfront?
No. We deduct the grant from your quote before you pay. You never handle the £7,500 - it goes directly from Ofgem to us after installation.
Is There a Deadline?
The scheme is funded until at least 2028 with annual budgets increasing. But grant availability depends on funding each year, so the sooner you apply, the more certainty you have.

What Does a Heat Pump Cost?
Most domestic air source heat pump installations in the Bicester area cost between £10,000 and £15,000 before the grant. After the £7,500 BUS grant is deducted, you’re typically looking at £3,000 to £8,000 out of pocket.
That’s comparable to a mid-range boiler replacement once you factor in the grant - and your running costs drop from day one.
Heat pumps also qualify for 0% VAT until at least 2027, which brings the cost down further.
Before Grant
£10,000 – £15,000
BUS grant
£7,500
You Pay
£2,500 – £7,500
What Affects the Price?
Size of your property
A larger home needs a more powerful system.
Condition of existing pipework and radiators
Heat pumps run at lower temperatures than gas boilers. Some homes need radiator upgrades.
Insulation levels
Better insulated homes need smaller, less expensive systems.
System type
Air source heat pumps are the most common and most cost-effective.
Every quote from Wynn’s includes the heat pump unit, installation, any radiator upgrades required, MCS certification from Alto, Ofgem grant application, commissioning, and your first annual service.
No hidden costs.
Servicing and Repairs
Heat pumps need regular servicing just like boilers do. An annual check keeps your system running efficiently, protects your warranty, and catches small issues before they become expensive ones.
If something’s gone wrong, no hot water, strange noises, error codes on the controller, we can diagnose and repair most faults on site. We work on all major makes including Mitsubishi, Daikin, Vaillant, Samsung, and Grant.
A typical service includes refrigerant pressure and flow checks, electrical connections inspection, filter and coil cleaning, system performance checks against manufacturer benchmarks, and a written report.
What Our Customers Say
“Tom and his colleague answered a late-night call out just before Christmas when we discovered a leak from our kitchen ceiling. They came out right away and were excellent in identifying the issues. Everything was sorted quickly and professionally. Can’t recommend Tom enough.”

Common Plumbing & Heating Questions
Is a heat pump right for my home?
Not every home is suitable, and we’ll always give you an honest answer before you spend anything. The key factors are insulation levels, available outdoor space, and your current heating setup. We offer a free, no-obligation survey to assess suitability. If it’s not the right fit, we’ll tell you that and talk through the alternatives.
Do I need to upgrade my radiators?
Not always. Heat pumps run at lower flow temperatures than gas boilers, so in some homes the existing radiators need upsizing. We check this during the survey. If changes are needed, we include them in the quote.
How long does installation take?
Most domestic installations take two to three days from start to finish. We’ll confirm the timeline when we provide your quote.
Will a heat pump work in an older property?
Many older properties in the Bicester area work well with heat pumps, especially if they’ve had insulation improvements. The survey tells us whether yours is one of them.
What’s MCS certification and why does it matter?
MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) is the national quality standard for renewable energy installers. Without an MCS certified installer, your grant application will be rejected by Ofgem. We’re MCS-Accredited Installs via ALTO Umbrella Scheme, so your installation qualifies automatically.
